Hello to all you co-conspirators in artistic revolution ---

We're about to launch our guerrilla MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM-on-the-beach project. We are currently in the fundraising mode and are going to cast and rehearse in tandem with that effort.

To wit: We are going to have two days of casting, Friday, July 8th, and Saturday, July 9th, 10am-4pm, ON THE BEACH. When you sign up for an appt., we will tell you specifically where to go.

As it were.

The process will look like this. Once the show is cast, we will rehearse little scenes in public places: the beach, parks, etc. and begin putting the whole show together. On August 18th, Michael Toomey, the clownmaster from Shakespeare & Co., will come for 8 days to work with the company, specifically teaching clown and physical comedy in relation to working directly with the audience-----that is, the people wandering by. As you know, there will be no fourth wall in our production; the play will erupt right out of the crowd.

During Michael's 8-day visit, we will take segments of the play to places like.......the grocery lines at Trader Joe's, the train platform at Union Station, the central courtyard at the Third Street mall at the promenade in Santa Monica. These segments will be filmed and blasted on YouTube and Facebook. Michael will observe and give notes afterwards.

Take a look at the website www.improveverywhere.com This HUGE troupe of performers do incredibly inventive things; they just haven't tried it with Shakespeare yet. We'll do it for them.

If funding goes well, this work will culminate in a production of MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (cut to 1 hour and 10 minutes) right on the Venice Boardwalk on August 26th, 27th and 28th. Around 4pm. Time enough for you to make curtain across town!
